Vinsanto – Santos Wines | Intense, honeyed and iconically Santorini
Vinsanto from Santos Wines is one of the most famous dessert wines in Greece, from the volcanic island of Santorini. It is made from sun-dried grapes and is known for its deep amber colour, intense aromas and rich, velvety flavour.
Grapes & origin
A blend of Assyrtiko, Aidani and Athiri from old vines on the volcanic soils of Santorini (PDO Vinsanto). The unique soil and dry climate give the wine its characteristic minerality and concentration.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes are sun-dried for several days to concentrate their sugars and aromas. The wine then ages for several years in oak barrels, which gives extra complexity and a rich structure.
Tasting notes
Deep amber. On the nose intense aromas of honey, dried apricots, raisins, caramel, figs and spices. On the palate rich and velvety, with a perfect balance between sweetness and fresh acidity and a very long, elegant finish.
Serving tips
Serve lightly chilled at 10–12 °C. Delicious with desserts made with chocolate, nuts or honey, baklava, blue cheeses or dried fruit. Also perfect as a digestif.
Cellaring
Excellent — 15 years or more. This wine can develop even more complexity with bottle age.
