Pure Greece in every drop
Authentic, fruity and of top Greek quality
Saint George – Papaioannou Estate | Soft and typically Nemea
The Saint George from Papaioannou Estate is a classic red wine from Nemea, made from the local grape Agiorgitiko, also known as Saint George. This wine is supple, fruity and elegant — perfect for anyone looking for an approachable red with an authentically Greek character.
Grapes & origin
100% Agiorgitiko from carefully managed vineyards in the PDO Nemea appellation in the Peloponnese. The Papaioannou family is a pioneer of sustainable viticulture and known for its faithfully terroir-driven style.
Vinification
Traditional vinification in stainless steel to preserve the fruity character of Agiorgitiko. Short ageing in neutral barrels or steel — no heavy oak influence, which keeps the wine supple and elegant.
Tasting notes
Clear ruby red. On the nose gentle aromas of redcurrant, cherry, strawberry and a hint of spice. On the palate supple, fruity and round, with mild tannins, fresh acidity and an elegant finish. A wine that drinks easily but is never dull.
Serving tips
Serve at 15–17 °C. Perfect with grilled vegetables, pasta with tomato sauce, lamb cutlets, mezze or mild cheeses. Also suitable as a house red with something extra.
Cellaring
At its best young — within 2 to 4 years — to enjoy the fresh fruit and elegance in full.
Taste & character
Full, balanced and made to be enjoyed.
Use & serving tip
Delicious with salads, mezze, grilled vegetables and fresh bread.
