Agiorgitiko – Gaia Wines | Spicy, elegant and classic Nemea

The Agiorgitiko (pronounced ah-yor-YEE-ti-ko) from Gaia Wines is a refined red wine from the historic wine region of Nemea in the Peloponnese. It combines the soft, fruity charm of Agiorgitiko with the depth and structure typical of the high-altitude vineyards around Koutsi — fresh, spicy and wonderfully easy to drink.

Grapes & origin
100% Agiorgitiko from carefully managed vineyards in Koutsi (Nemea). The altitude (up to 850 metres) and limestone soils give an excellent balance between ripe fruit, fresh acidity and elegant tannins.

Vinification
Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve the aromas. The wine then ages for several months in used French oak barrels, for extra softness and complexity without dominant oak.

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in the glass. On the nose aromas of cherry, red plum, spices, rose petal and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate supple, fruity and spicy, with fine acidity, soft tannins and an elegant, medium-long finish.

Serving tips
Serve at 16–18 °C. Delicious with roast meat, pasta with tomato sauce, moussaka, grilled vegetables or matured cheeses. Also an excellent red for midweek or a convivial dinner.

Cellaring
Ready to drink, but can develop nicely for another 3 to 5 years in bottle.
