Microclima Nemea – Papaioannou Estate | Powerful, elegant and a great Agiorgitiko
The Microclima Nemea from Papaioannou Estate is one of the most prestigious expressions of the Agiorgitiko grape. Coming from a specific microclimate within Nemea and made from old, low-yielding vines, it delivers exceptional depth, structure and cellaring potential. A powerful yet refined red for lovers of classic terroir wines.
Grapes & origin
100% Agiorgitiko from old vines in a single plot with a unique microclimate in Nemea (PDO). The selective approach and low yield per hectare give concentrated grapes with aromatic richness and balance.
Vinification
Slow fermentation with skin maceration in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine then ages for 18 to 24 months in new French oak barrels, followed by long bottle ageing. Bottled unfiltered for maximum expression.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with purple nuances. On the nose aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, clove, leather, cedar and tobacco. On the palate powerful and layered, with ripe but firm tannins, fresh acidity and a long, complex finish with spicy and earthy notes. Full of character, without losing its elegance.
Serving tips
Serve at 17–18 °C. Decanting recommended (at least an hour). Delicious with game, roast beef or lamb, herb-rich stews or matured cheeses. A wine that calls for a dish with character.
Cellaring
Excellent: 10 to 15 years. Evolves beautifully with bottle age and ranks among the very best Greek Agiorgitikos.
