Ionos Red from Cavino is an approachable, soft red wine from the Peloponnese, perfect for everyday drinking. It is supple, fruity and, lightly chilled, also lovely in summer — ideal for anyone looking for a simple, enjoyable red.
Grapes & origin
A blend of Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards around Aigialeia, in the hills of the northern Peloponnese. The coastal setting and altitude give fresh acidity and ripe aromas.
Vinification
Fermentation at low temperature in stainless steel tanks. No oak ageing — everything revolves around fruit, freshness and suppleness.
Tasting notes
Clear ruby red. On the nose aromas of cherry, strawberry and a hint of spice. On the palate light and fruity, with soft tannins and a round, supple finish. Approachable and easy to drink.
Serving tips
Serve at 15–16 °C, lightly chilled if you like. Delicious with pizza, pasta, mezze, grilled vegetables or simply as a glass on its own. An ideal house red.
Cellaring
At its best drunk young — within 2 to 3 years — to enjoy its fresh fruit character.
