Pure Greece in every drop
Authentic, fruity and of top Greek quality
Naoussa – Boutari | Classic, elegant and authentic Xinomavro
Naoussa Boutari is a true classic among Greek wines. Since 1879 Boutari has been making refined reds from the indigenous Xinomavro grape in the Naoussa (PDO) region. This wine is light in colour but rich in structure, complexity and cellaring potential — the perfect introduction to the “Greek Nebbiolo”.
Grapes & origin
100% Xinomavro from high-altitude vineyards in Naoussa, northern Greece. The combination of cool mountain air and limestone soils gives grapes with high acidity, firm tannins and refined aromas.
Vinification
Traditional vinification with long skin maceration. The wine ages for 12 months in used oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing. This softens the tannins and lets the complex character come through beautifully.
Tasting notes
Light ruby red with brick tones. On the nose aromas of sun-dried tomato, sour cherry, olives, tobacco and a hint of leather. On the palate fresh, structured and complex, with firm but ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish.
Serving tips
Serve at 17–18 °C. Decanting recommended for younger bottles. Perfect with lamb, stews, stuffed aubergine, game or mature cheeses. An excellent wine for the classic red wine lover.
Cellaring
Very good: 8 to 10 years. With bottle age the wine becomes suppler and even more complex.
Allergen information: this product contains sulphites.
Taste & character
Full, balanced and made to be enjoyed.
Use & serving tip
Delicious with salads, mezze, grilled vegetables and fresh bread.
