Kotsifali Queen – Lyrarakis Winery | Soft, elegant and authentically Cretan
Kotsifali Queen from Lyrarakis Winery is an elegant red wine that expresses the charm of the traditional Cretan grape Kotsifali beautifully. Supple, aromatic and refined, it shows how soft and expressive this indigenous variety can be when vinified with care.
Grapes & origin
100% Kotsifali from vineyards in the interior of Crete, around the village of Alagni. Warm days and cool nights, combined with limestone soils, give ripe fruit and a soft, balanced structure.
Vinification
Gentle extraction and temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the elegant, fruity style of the grape. Ageing mainly in stainless steel tanks, sometimes with a short spell in neutral oak barrels for extra roundness without overpowering the fruit.
Tasting notes
Clear ruby red. On the nose aromas of ripe cherry, red plum, dried herbs and a subtle earthy touch. On the palate supple and medium-bodied, with soft tannins, fresh acidity and an elegant, lightly spicy finish.
Serving tips
Serve at 15–17 °C. Delicious with Mediterranean dishes, grilled vegetables, lamb, pasta with tomato sauce or mezze. Also very pleasant lightly chilled on warm days.
Cellaring
At its best within 4 to 6 years, but already lovely now thanks to its soft structure and aromatic charm.
