The Merlot 2006 from Lykos Winery is a beautifully matured red wine that brings out the charm of bottle ageing in full. With its soft structure, developed aromas and elegant balance, this is a wine for lovers of mature, complex reds with a refined character.
Grapes & origin
100% Merlot from selected vineyards in northern Greece, where the temperate climate and long ripening period give optimum grape quality and aromatic depth.
Vinification
Traditional vinification with long skin maceration for structure and concentration. The wine aged for several months in oak barrels and then developed for years in bottle, which has given it its soft, rounded character.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with a light brick-coloured evolution. On the nose complex aromas of dried plums, cherry jam, leather, tobacco, cocoa and subtle spices. On the palate velvety and harmonious, with rounded tannins and a long, warm finish. Mature, elegant and perfectly balanced.
Serving tips
Serve at 17–18 °C. Decanting recommended to open the aromas fully. Delicious with stews, roast meat, game, mushrooms or matured cheeses. Also excellent as a wine to contemplate on its own.
