Xinomavro – Arvanitidis Estate | Authentic, structured and Greek with depth

The Xinomavro from Arvanitidis Estate is an expressive, characterful red wine from northern Greece. This indigenous grape is known for its refined tannins, lively acidity and complexity — it is often compared to Nebbiolo. Arvanitidis translates the power and elegance of Xinomavro beautifully into a modern, gastronomic wine.

Grapes & origin
100% Xinomavro from the estate’s own vineyards on the flanks of Mount Chortiatis, in the Thessaloniki region. The altitude and temperate climate give slow ripening and aromatic precision.

Vinification
Traditional vinification with long skin maceration for maximum extraction of aroma and structure. The wine then ages for 12 months in used French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing — refinement without overpowering oak.

Tasting notes
Clear ruby red with a brick-coloured rim. On the nose notes of sour cherry, tomato, olive, herbs and an earthy undertone. On the palate fresh and structured, with fine acidity, firm but ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish. A wine with depth and a traditionally Greek character.

Serving tips
Serve at 16–18 °C. Excellent with stews, leg of lamb, aubergine with tomato (such as imam bayildi), hard cheeses or game. Decanting recommended for young vintages.

Cellaring
Great cellaring potential: can age 6–8 years (or longer) in bottle and gains complexity with time.
