Afros Retsina – Kechris Winery | Sparkling and original
Afros is the innovative sparkling retsina from Kechris Winery, a pioneer in the modern interpretation of this traditional Greek style. This unique wine combines the fresh character of a sparkling wine with the herbal touch of pine resin — surprising, refreshing and full of Greek flair.
Grapes and origin
Made from the aromatic Roditis grape from cooler vineyards in northern Greece. The combination of altitude and terroir gives the wine finesse, lively acidity and elegant fruit.
Vinification
Fermentation at low temperature in stainless steel tanks with the addition of natural Aleppo resin. The wine then undergoes a second fermentation in tank to develop its fine bubble. A playful, modern wine that stays true to its Greek roots.
Tasting notes
An inviting nose of citrus, white blossom and fresh pine resin. Lightly sparkling, with a soft bubble, lively acidity and a subtle herbal touch on the finish. Refreshing, original and thirst-quenching.
Serving tips
Serve well chilled at 6–8 °C. Perfect as an aperitif or with fried fish, tempura, mezze, sushi, or feta with mint and lime.
Cellaring
Ideal drunk young — fresh and sparkling at its best within 1 to 2 years.
