Malagouzia – Domaine Gerovassiliou | Elegant, aromatic and iconically Greek

The Malagouzia from Domaine Gerovassiliou is one of the most influential white wines in Greece. Evangelos Gerovassiliou pioneered the rediscovery of this almost vanished grape — and his version remains a benchmark of finesse, expression and balance.

Grapes & origin
100% Malagouzia from the private vineyards in Epanomi, just outside Thessaloniki. The vineyards lie on a hill overlooking the sea, on sandy soils that give elegance and aromatic purity.

Vinification
The grapes are carefully hand-picked. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by ageing on the fine lees (sur lie) with bâtonnage. This gives the wine creaminess and structure without losing its freshness.

Tasting notes
Clear light yellow. On the nose intense aromas of peach, lime blossom, basil and tropical fruit, with a light spiciness. On the palate full and supple, with fresh acidity, a creamy texture and a long, elegant finish.

Serving tips
Serve at 9–11 °C. Perfect with grilled fish, shellfish, dishes with fresh herbs, vegetable dishes or light Asian cooking. Also lovely as a refined aperitif.

Cellaring
Ready to drink, but can develop positively for up to 3 or 4 years in bottle.
