The Tear of the Pine (Το Δάκρυ του Πεύκου) is an exceptional white retsina of the highest oenological standard — a wine that has won international recognition as perhaps the finest and most elegant retsina ever made. A masterpiece from Kechris Winery, in which tradition, terroir and modern winemaking come together.

Grapes & origin
Made from 100% Assyrtiko, a noble Greek grape known for its high acidity and mineral structure. It comes from cooler areas of northern Greece, which gives tension, freshness and depth.

Vinification
Fermentation partly in stainless steel and partly in new French oak barrels. During fermentation an extremely precise quantity of natural Aleppo pine resin is added. The wine then ages on the fine lees for extra complexity, texture and ageing potential.

Tasting notes
Intensely aromatic, with layers of citrus, peach, flowers, herbs, vanilla and a perfectly integrated touch of pine resin. Full on the palate, with fresh acidity, an elegant structure and a long, refined, lightly herbal finish. A gastronomic wine of impressive balance and finesse.

Serving tips
Serve at 10–12 °C. Excellent with rich dishes such as grilled fish in a citrus sauce, lobster, roast chicken with thyme, smoked cheeses or even Asian fusion. Also very well suited as a wine to contemplate at a special moment.

Cellaring
A rare retsina that can age beautifully. Potential for 7–10 years in bottle when well stored.
