About this dish
This simple Greek salad, or horiatiki, is simple and traditional. No fuss with a dressing: mix the vegetables with good olive oil and red wine vinegar, then lay the feta on top, torn into pieces.
Mise en place
Step by step
Rinse the onion. To take some of the sharpness out of the onion, fill a small bowl with iced water. Add 1 teaspoon of red wine vinegar to the iced water, then the sliced onion. Leave for about 10 minutes.
Combine the vegetables. Put the tomatoes, cucumber, pepper and olives in a large bowl. Lift the onion out of the water, squeeze it well and add it to the rest of the vegetables.
Season. Add a teaspoon of oregano and a pinch of salt. Add oil and vinegar to taste and mix everything gently.
Serve. Add the torn feta and sprinkle with the remaining teaspoon of oregano. Enjoy!
