About this dish
What is Arni Kleftiko?
Arni Kleftiko is one of the most iconic dishes in Greek cooking. It takes its name from the klephts, Greek freedom fighters who cooked their food slowly in sealed pits so that no smoke would give them away. The slow cooking makes the lamb meltingly tender and gives it a rich flavour of lemon, herbs, vegetables and feta. Kleftiko is a festive dish, often served at family gatherings and on special occasions.
