About this dish
What are Vegetable pies with fennel and leek?
Chortopites are traditional savoury pies made above all in the villages of the southern Peloponnese. The filling consists of wild greens, fennel (maratho), leek and fresh herbs, which together create a remarkably aromatic flavour. Originally these pies were made with whatever the season and the countryside had to offer. They are a wonderful example of simple, healthy Mediterranean cooking.
