Tsageraki (mountain tea and mint blend) 50 g

Tsageraki consists of two different Greek teas: mountain tea and pennyroyal mint. In the small village of Vrynaina, in Almyros Magnesia, at an altitude of 650 metres on the eastern slopes of Mount Othrys, almost every inhabitant enjoys a daily brew and a walk in the mountains. Whether as their main work or a second occupation, they are the only growers in Greece cultivating as much as five hectares of mountain tea. In ancient Greek mythology Othrys is the mountain of the Titans, where they settled during their conflict with the Olympian gods. From there the Titans fought Zeus and the other gods, seizing and hurling enormous stones towards Olympus. The myth offers an explanation for the geophysical division of the mountain, where the vegetation varies greatly. At the foot there is rich woodland with oak and heather. At the highest points there are conifers such as fir, and large areas full of ferns. The summits are rocky, and that is where the mountain tea thrives.
